If you’ve spent any time watching anime over the last two decades, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard J. Michael Tatum somewhere along the way.

Fans know him as Tenya Iida in My Hero Academia, Kyoya Ootori in Ouran High School Host Club, Erwin Smith in Attack on Titan, Sebastian Michaelis in Black Butler, Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate, and Sir Hammerlock in the Borderlands franchise. His long list of credits also includes characters like Tomoe in Kamisama Kiss, Eneru in One Piece, Scar in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Kraft Lawrence in Spice and Wolf

his work doesn’t stop behind the mic. Tatum expanded into ADR directing and adaptive scriptwriting in 2007, with writing and directing credits across English-language anime productions, including work connected to Ouran High School Host ClubSteins;Gate, and many others. He’s also an experienced instructor who leads workshops for both new and established performers looking to strengthen their craft. 

At MiraiCon, fans will have the chance to hear from someone who knows the world of voice acting from just about every angle, from building a character in the booth to adapting a script and shaping the final dub.
